A Southern California business owner, Michael Meskal oversees Ecotek, an environmental consulting firm. Prior to his work in environmental science, Michael Meskal spent three decades as an educator and researcher.
In 1990, Mr. Meskal served as a substitute English teacher who taught English as a second language at Don Martin College of English. He then became a molecular biologist at Long Beach Genetics Laboratories in 1993 and a senior research chemist at Diagnostic Products Corporation in 1997.
In 1999, Mr. Meskal became the vice president of Ecotek, which he later took ownership of in 2012. Today, he collaborates with government agencies to conduct emissions research projects.
The Los Angeles Unified School District hired him in 2000 to teach biology, physics, and chemistry to junior and high school students, and he remained in this position for 11 years. Then, in 2012, he took a position as a substitute chemistry and biology teacher for Orange Unified School District. Lynwood Unified School District then hired him to be its International Baccalaureate biology teacher in 2014. He currently teaches at Marco Antonio Firebaugh High School, where he has been recognized for his work with students.
Mr. Meskal belongs to the California Teachers Association, the Air & Waste Management Association, the EPA, and the South Coast Air Quality Management District. His personal interests include traveling and playing football and volleyball.
